When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.

Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.

Promises get broken.

Rules get shattered.

Love gets ugly

My Review:

At this point i’m just going to accept the fact that i have a Love-Hate relationship with Colleen Hoover’s books . But i love her , she’s such a nice spirit and fun!

Going back to the book , i also read it without the slightest idea about its content . at first it was bit boring for me , and i admit i put it on hold for a long time until i finally decided to finish it a couple days a go .

The writing style is obviously good since it’s Colleen , i didn’t have trouble getting into it

The characters were fun but i didn’t find them interesting enough

Tate wasn’t that great for me , i found her to be very weak and annoying most of the time

Miles , i don’t see the hype about him , he isn’t that great either , i get it , the ” boy with tortured past” kind of thing , but i didn’t buy it ,i just didn’t like it .

i didn’t like them or their relationship with each other

i LOVED cap thought! he’s such a sweetheart and he’s funny

the reason i gave it three stars is because i understand what Colleen was doing , and i loved the meaning behind the story and the entire concept about letting go of the ghosts of our pasts .

I did cry while reading it , some parts were too much for me to handle so i’m warning you .

i don’t recommend this book , but i know some people would love it , so pick it up on your own risk . it just wasn’t made for me

Question : what do you think of Colleen’s books? which one is your favorite ?

and , did you love Miles with Tate?

My Review:

"I had to have a back-up plan so i wouldn't rot in fucking prison like my father did most his life. Maybe it wasn't a complete waste . i at least have the "Schizophrenia" to fall back on if i ever need it"

_ Asa

I'm sure this is the only Colleen Hoover book that's i will love this much , because i'm really starting to get sick of the sappy romantic fairy-tales , nothing against her though i love her ! i just don't enjoy love stories anymore .

This is why i didn't like Luke at all .. at all . i found him irritating and annoying , plain stupid and very unprofessional (obviously) .

and no , i didn't like his relationship with Sloan either , nor found it cute or beautiful .. to be honest i wasn't very fond of her character at all , i found her to be boring , and in some scenes i just wanted to shake her until she wakes the hell up .

i just didn't like anything about them , or them together ...

this is me while reading their parts

i think i might have liked John more than them and found him more interesting!

now Asa .. Asa Jackson , i freaking LOVED him , i ADORED his character and how twisted he is , that might be due to the fact i love villains in books , but there is something about him that drew me so much , i wished the book was written only from his perspective , he made things THAT more interesting

perhaps the only reason i kept on reading was because of him , i wanted to know what's going to happen next , i really fell in love with his twisted tortured character , it's a bit lame that i always fall for these kind of characters but i can't help it!

this is my review so obviously i'm going to be subjective , i wish there is a book only about him and his life , a twisted part of me wished Sloan would choose him ( yes yes i know it's wrong and would never happen! don't kill me... i'm a bit messed up , but hey it's a story!)

and this is you reading my review

i loved the snippets we were shown from his childhood , i loved his crazy moments , and his plans.

so , yes . i would recommend this book , even if it's only because of Asa , he's a character that shouldn't be missed . and that's why i love Colleen . because she is such a marvelous writer that she is able to create something like him !

My Review:

I haven’t really read the description of the boonk , i heard so much about it that i just picked it up and read it without knowing where it’s leading.

I’ve been in some kind of a reading slump , not really , but i couldn’t enjoy any book recently . but boooy i LOVED this one!

(p.s : what’s up with the ugly covers?)

I didn’t get into it very quickly , i was half way through the book to know i liked it , and that’s when things picked up .

I liked the writing style , and the pacing of the story .

The characters were likable as well ,

Rose is badass , i loved her and immensely  enjoyed her snarky comments and her short tempered attitude .

Lissa  was okay , although her powers are admirable , i didn’t connect with her. she’s the nice girl next door.

Christian , he’s that hot guy who doesn’t know he is hot , he just blends with the shadows , which makes him 10 times hotter ( right????)

I loved Christian and Lissa together , i was rooting for them!

giphy (12).gif

Dimitri , i just have a thing for Russian men okay! ah i loved his character , ( that Lust spell scene thought ! ) i’m sure we all enjoyed him. he’s so … aghgdk!

Natalie , don’t wanna spoil anything , but , Damn girl you blew my mind.

Mia , i just wanted to hit her so hard throughout the book

giphy (7).gif

The plot was a bit surprising , and fun . i do believe it could have been better but i enjoyed it anyway , the fighting scenes were also okay ( also could have been better) .
I loved the ending , all the thrill was there .

and i can’t stop thinking about how Dimitri and Rose should be together !

I want to study in this school !!!

and i think i would’ve made one hell of a Dhampir girl . ( not a big fan of Moroi and the royals)

I would recommend this book for YA fans , who are looking for a fun easy read , i’m glad i gave it a try!

I’m just not sure if i loved it enough to continue this series , what do you think, should i continue the other books? or does it go down hill from this one?

Update: Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

Is it normal that i didn’t cry while reading the book
Yet i was sobbing during the entire movie! Oh Will..

giphy (10)

I think it finally hit me, the feelings , the emotions .. it finally hit me.

This is the first time i liked a movie more than the book.

Has this ever happened to you? to cry days after you finished a story?
and have you ever liked a movie better than the book? if so, which one?

i would love to hear your answers , i hope i’m not the only one…

I’m so in love with this movie , agh too many feelings

have you watched it yet?

Obviously i'm not going to do a better description than the one in the book , so .. here it is.

Lou Clark knows lots of things. She knows how many footsteps there are between the bus stop and home. She knows she likes working in The Buttered Bun tea shop and she knows she might not love her boyfriend Patrick.

What Lou doesn't know is she's about to lose her job or that knowing what's coming is what keeps her sane.

Will Traynor knows his motorcycle accident took away his desire to live. He knows everything feels very small and rather joyless now and he knows exactly how he's going to put a stop to that.

What Will doesn't know is that Lou is about to burst into his world in a riot of colour. And neither of them knows they're going to change the other for all time.

My Review:

i see that everyone started their reviews with crying gifs or a 5 star rating picture , guess not me too.

the reason i picked this book is because of how many people recommended it and all the hype that's been going on , besides, i did like the movie trailer so i wanted to read the book before watching the movie.

Here's the thing , i didn't hate it , or find it bad , it just wasn't that good .

The pacing of the story was very slow , and not enough elements to keep your interest , some of the daily details were extremely unnecessary .

The characters were good , even though i didn't like Lou very much , nor her sister and family.

I loved Will , he might be rude and hard sometimes but he seemed more real and his actions and way of thinking were understandable .

“You only get one life. It's actually your duty to live it as fully as possible.” — Will

The romantic aspect was laughable ,her relationship with Patrick seemed silly, i didn't understand why they were with each other in the first place .

and with Will , it was impossible , but i enjoyed it a bit.

I loved the moral questions this novel addressed, i felt like this subject needed attention.
How far would you go to make the people you love happy?
and are you really making them happy, or you just want to do the right thing , even if it meant they are suffering.
Sometimes you think you are helping someone , but you're not , because you never bothered to ask what they want.

there were many mixed feeling about the ending from many of my friends, but i loved it.
Our happiness lies in our own hands , no one can truly know what we're feeling and what are we going through , even if their intentions are good.
So whatever we do about it , is our choice , our decision .
Should we live for ourselves , in this case 'die' , or try not to hurt the people who care about us , even if it means we're hurting ourselves.

I thought it was the perfect ending , i didn't cry , i almost did though, but i did feel sad .

I'm giving two stars for it , one for Will and one for the ending. Otherwise i don't think it was really worth any of the hype .

Judging a book by its cover : Top 10

who doesn't like books with pretty covers?

i sure do . it's not as if we're going to say we like the story or not by looking at the covers, but it's more about appreciating the art work and the creativity put into those covers, it certainly does look good.

that's why today, i'm making a list of the Top 10 most beautiful covers of books i read or want to read.

ISBN: 0765328658

Publisher: Tor Teen

Publication Date: October 17th 2011

Format:  Hardcover

Pages: 320

Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.

So did his father before him, until he was gruesomely murdered by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father's mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. They follow legends and local lore, destroy the murderous dead, and keep pesky things like the future and friends at bay.

Searching for a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas expects the usual: track, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he's never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, now stained red and dripping with blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.

Yet she spares Cas's life.

My Review:

i do believe i had enough reading books about blood and splattered guts and flesh
but i LOVED this story  , but boy was this scary!

i definitely don't recommend reading this book at night if you are easily scared ( like me)
i enjoyed this so much that i kept reading it all day , and night ( big mistake) , that at some point i had to stop and keep it for when morning comes , because i just couldn't handle it anymore, my hearts was beating and all i kept thinking is

" what was that"  "i think i saw someone"

i do believe in ghosts , so this GIF is how i looked.

i was waiting for this to happen the entire time:

so , the scenes where scary things happened were good, amazing!

but , i had a bit of a hard time getting into the story , the beginning was slow and not that interesting , it wasn't until Anna ( the ghost) showed her powers and made a mess with human flesh that i started focusing on the story.

The characters , i though they were good , not that intriguing but still nice to read about

Anna was my favorite , she is the queen of hell at first , then we get to see the real her , that sweet little girl who wouldn't hurt a fly . which was also good about her is that we got to look at her past and what made her who she is now , which created some depth into her character that i connected with and made me always curious about her next move.

Cas, even if we got to know a lot about him , i didn't like him very much , i didn't hate him either , but seeing things from his perspective and hearing his thoughts isn't what you call delightful .

however , i did love his relationship wish Anna , a ghost and a ghost killer.
they are both presented with this chance of happiness , yet they know it's too impossible

“You make me want things I can't have.”

The ending wasn't happy , but i felt like it was great , perfect for this story and i enjoyed it even if it broke my heart a little.

The writing was also good, i finished this book in two sittings , maybe even faster if i had enough courage to read it at night , but oh well...

i would recommend this book to you if you're looking for a scary story , something to get your heart racing , yet with interesting elements ( i loved the stories of the ghosts and their pasts)

Songs of Innocence and Experience

Songs of Innocence and Experience - William Blake, Richard Holmes I only read this because a certain villain was involved

and i'm glad i did , this book has many short beautiful poems , and i certainly enjoyed reading them while imagining Klaus reading them , with that voice and accent of his ( excuse the fangirling)

My Review:

i know for a fact that i never took this long to finish a book , an entire week!
but God this was so boring!

i started this book with high expectations, i heard good things about it , and wanted to read it before watching the movie . well , i was terribly disappointed .

the first half of the book was so awfully boring , the only thing it offered me is some fashion rants - that went on for pages and pages- and useless conversations about food or girls and money ( maybe some other things too , i couldn't focus much , it was THAT boring)

i had to skim through it to be able to finish it without burning the book.

the second part however was a bit better ( still boring most of the times) , yet his true psycho self started to have a presence in the story and took actions rather than few provocative words .

i did enjoy reading about what he did to his victims ( pretty sick huh?) at least it was a bit interesting , i do believe it's too graphic and violent , absolutely disgusting too , but it sent emotions in me , shock , disgust , horror , surprise . unlike the other parts where i just want to hit my head on the wall rather than read them .

there were a lot of times where i felt the character was too much of a misogynist , bet then again , we're talking about a psychopath here!

i didn't enjoy the way the story was told , many other characters were absent most of the times , and the author focused too much on Patrick's thoughts ( which were boring , many about clothes) . and we witnessed the events from only his perspective , so we always know what to expect .

the ending was also another disappointment , a bit all over the place and hard to understand .

oh this review wouldn't be complete without this : (if you read the book or seen the movie you would get it )

maybe this book was destined to a different category of people ,  but i didn't enjoy it at all . so i won't recommend it to anyone really.

i will only give it 2 starts because the killing scenes were good.

I have a curse
I have a gift

I am a monster
I'm more than human

My touch is lethal
My touch is power

I am their weapon
I will fight back

Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

My Review:

“His smile is laced with dynamite. "Go to sleep"
"Go to hell."
He works his jaw. Walks to the door. "I'm working on it.”
Tahereh Mafi, Shatter Me

This book has been one of my favorites for a while , and yes , i know . i know it got a fair amount of hate ... but sometimes i enjoy cheesy books! don't judge me okay!                                                                                                                                                                                                          First of all ... look at that beautiful cover! hands down , this series has the best covers of all time.

 The things i Loved :

This is one of the books where all the characters are fun to read about .

Juliette , even though she cries a lot and comes across as weak , i liked her . and enjoyed seeing her journey through this story ( she gets better in the next books i promise!)

Kenji , Why do i feel like he is my best friend? damn he had me laughing so many times , and made me pray he won't die . he is just adorable haha.

Warner , The guy who we love to hate ( or in my case , love to love) . if you know me and read my previous reviews then you know that i LOVE villains . so naturally the moment his character poped up , i was in love! i kept reading this book with one dominant thought in my head "what will he do next? when will he apear again?" . he's complicated  and interesting , always leaving you wanting more , whether it's his

dangerous actions or smart-ass remarks. this is how i imagined him:

And because of Warner dear readers, i finished this book in one sitting.

Okay , one more:

large (2)

okay , i'm done , i promise.

Sans titre

One more thing that i enjoyed , was the world building , it was easy to imagine and feel . and i just loved the idea of this order that led the world , called The reestablishment , and the sectors ruled by the army , i also loved sector 45 ..  Warner duh!

There is something about the world being divided and ruled by military personalities that make me enjoy stories more , it kind of gives you the feeling of order and domination , with the possibility of a rebellion happening , so you just stay there waiting for it to happen while admiring the current control . ( i hope it's not just me)

 The ending:

I did like the ending , because something finally happened ! the story felt like it was the calm before the storm and i loved every second of it ( except few things that i will mention later) . we see a new side of Juliette , and Warner too , his reaction made it even better . and we see few superpowers, action! and a new group of people who will be a part of this story later on ... even an element that makes us wonder...

i could recommend this book for just that ending honestly , it was so good.

Things i Hated:

i just wasn't feeling it , it was boring and based on nothing , i felt like the author was trying so much to come up with an explanation for it , but honestly it felt like it was stupid , it really made no sense to me, " oh i saw to him once when were kids now i know we are in love"! seriously!

and now , one of the main reason this book got criticized so much :

Sans titre

As i started this story there were moments where i felt like it was a bit boring , hearing Juliette's thoughts wasn't what you would call " exciting" . i honestly considered giving up on this story . the pacing was only better at the end.

The writing style of this author was a bit weird , as if she was trying too hard to come across as different , when in reality it was plain weird, and not in a good way. here's an example:

“I always wonder about raindrops.

I wonder about how they're always falling down, tripping over their own feet, breaking their legs and forgetting their parachutes as they tumble right out of the sky toward an uncertain end. It's like someone is emptying their pockets over the earth and doesn't seem to care where the contents fall, doesn't seem to care that the raindrops burst when they hit the ground, that they shatter when they fall to the floor, that people curse the days the drops dare to tap on their doors
My parents emptied their pockets of me and left me to evaporate on a concrete slab.

i also didn't like the crossing words thing she does, but what ticked me off more was th crazy expressions that made me thing " what the..."

  •  example :

"Every organ in my body falls to the ground."

"My jaw is dangling from my shoelace."

"My mouth is sitting on my kneecaps."

I would still recommend this book for the sake of the next books in the series, they are wonderful and worth reading , definitely different than this one , and they offer us more.

the novellas too! ( destroy me let's us see the story from our villain's perspective)

My Review:

“For in every adult there dwells the child that was, and in every child there lies the adult that will be.”
― John Connolly, The Book of Lost Things

I love the cover of this book, so beautiful  !

This book is my favorite book of all time . I often reread it , i feel it pulling me back in , tempting me to dive in its beautiful world of adventures once again. so finally i decided to post my thoughts about it.

One thing you should know about me , is that I LOVE fairy-tales , especially those who contain a dark twist . and oh my .. this book gave me everything.

The world that the author created was absolutely mesmerizing , the world building was impeccable that I actually felt like i was there, you could feel the magic around you , the air of that forest , and the howling of the wolves , it was detailed enough that you can see the place clearly but not too much that it became boring.

This is not a young adult book like I expected . it was very dark , and some parts are just so twisted but very well written . the pacing of the story was also good , it took me a few pages to get into it , but once i did , it was impossible not to continue and not want more , so i would say that this is definitely a page turner .

I also loved all the characters in this book , they seemed so real .  and i absolutely  ADORED David , all his flaws made him more relatable and more human, in this story I believe we follow him in a journey of finding himself rather than finding his mother .

The characters and the magical world building was very well written which made the experience of reading this book so vivid. i also enjoyed the dark fairy-tales included in this book , it's something different , in a good way of course.

The ending of this book tore me to pieces, it's the most perfectly written ending that i have ever encountered in a book. i cried so much . it is the kind of book that stays in your head even after you finish it.

I would recommend it to everyone , because i feel like it's something that must be read at least once in our lives.

Bullet Riddled: The First S.W.A.T. Officer Inside Columbine...and Beyond

Summary :

Grant Whitus joined the Colorado SWAT in 1992. His 17 year career was one of constant headlines. Among leading countless drug raids and hostage situations, he was on the front lines of the Columbine Massacre, the Platte County Tragedy, the Albert Petrosky shooting, and the Granby tank rampage.

Speaking for the first time, Whitus gives the unvarnished truth of those, and many other, major SWAT operations. Now retired, he opens up about his time behind the shield. Bullet Riddled is the full unabridged disclosure of what happened during his storied career; including the brutal morning of the Columbine Massacre. More than just a retelling, Bullet Riddled is an in-depth look at the day-to-day of SWAT and focuses on the men and women who inherit so much pain to keep us safe.

Nowhere is this more apparent than in the aftermath of the Columbine tragedy. The following days saw major changes within SWAT: Men cracked, leaders folded and the entire country demanded changes. But these changes, like all reforms, met with stiff resistance from the old guard. Friendships turned into rivals and the infrastructure of SWAT began to unravel. As resignations piled up, Grant rebuilt the entire team from hand-selected recruits. He finally had his elite team, one that would face new demons and disorders.

"This ARC was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review”

A book from the perspective of a SWAT team member who witnessed the horrors of the Columbine shooting.

It's a nice read , but definitely not light . The author addresses some serious topics , with horrible details. Throughout this book we got an insight on some unfortunate events accompanied with pictures that some might find a bit disturbing
( dead bodies - injuries )

I didn't know much the SWAT team but it answered a lot of questions and satisfied our curiosity. It has a lot of information about them , their training and opertaions.

I felt like the author is very confident and proud , but he has every right to be with all his accomplishments.

So i would recommend it to anyone who is curious about the SWAT or how their work goes , or want to get more information about some of the bad events/shootings/crimes that happened.

Forced to return to his estranged family, John discovers how hard it is to truly go home.

It's been a year since John lost his girlfriend, Leah, to suicide. Living with his uncle keeps his mind from the tragedy and his screwed up family-until he gets into trouble and a judge sends him back home. With a neglectful mother and abusive brother, John's homecoming is far from happy.

As he tries to navigate and repair the relationships he abandoned years ago, Emily, the girl next door, is the only bright spot. She's sweet and smart and makes him think his heart may finally be healing. But tragedy isn't far away, and John must soon face an impossible decision: save his family or save himself

I just love beautiful book covers ...

It's a well written story about being caught in the horrors of the past , being controlled by it . And trying to move forward, letting go of the memories.

I liked John's character, his mind is a bit messed up and he is struggling with his feelings. I felt like this story was addressing serious issues, so it's definitely not a light read, or a romantic one .

There was a bit of romance but the writer didn't focus on it , which i liked , both John and Emily have a lot going on in their lives .

I loved John's relationship with his sister , it was heartwarming.

This book could be seen as a standalone, the story is good and interesting on it's own .

I wish there was some kind of a plot , that's why i didn't give 5 stars ,but i enjoyed going along on John's journey nonetheless , the ending was also good and fitting with the story.

I would recommend it to people who enjoy stories about characters with bad pasts and serious struggles in their lives , and the possibility of overcoming them.

Bullet Riddled: The First S.W.A.T. Officer Inside Columbine...and Beyond

Bullet Riddled: The First S.W.A.T. Officer Inside Columbine...and Beyond - Grant M. Whitus, Thom Vines "This ARC was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review”

(Chapter 16 omg!)

There were moments where i couldn't breathe, and my heart was racing with anticipation. Even the writing was beautiful and well done, i didn't get bored , not even once while reading this story .good job!
